Anyone have any experience with Netsuite software??
http://www.netsuite.com/portal/home.shtml I am looking for a software package to revamp a warehouse wholesale distribution company. I need a full package of inventory control/ order process/ accountaing/ etc as well as ecommerce. Anyone have a good software idea? |

I looked at NetSuite as well as Intaact. We ultimately went with MAS 500. MAS is a bit clunky and feels old (everything is geared around printing, so to view a report you "Print Preview" it) but it's well structured and the GL is pretty nice. They tend to lag behind on new features for the inventory module, but that's finally been upgraded like the rest of the system.
What are your specific requirements around reporting and advanced logistics and inventory algorithms? How many SKUs? Multiple warehouses and company divisions? What kind of transaction volume and how many users? Do you need a BOM module? What inventory method (FIFO, LIFO, Avg, Serialized) are you using? Do you stock both finished goods and raw materials? In my experience, the downside to SaaS apps is the inability to create custom reports - as far as I know - using tools like Crystal and of course connecting with Excel. Might be moot though if they allow certain exports which could then be analyzed outside the system. I like to get some sort of tabular report format and then massage it in Excel. We consolidate several GL companies into one entity, so I use FRX for the balance sheet and create cashflow statements and P&L's from Excel pivot tables (using exported Trial Balance data). We are going down the e Comm route, and having the database local to us made a lot of sense. We connect our storefront stuff to a SQL Server 2005 backend and can play with it all we want. Shoot me an IM if you want to chat about it via phone or email. We're a mid sized manufacturing and distribution company with a service arm, I'm the CFO but prior to becoming a beancounter I was an IT guy. |
