There is a great new YaBB forum up at diehards.org/forum dedicated to low cost investing.  And it is moderated, too, so no lame flame wars.

it's a spin off of the Morningstar forum of the same name:
socialize.morningstar.com/NewSocialize/asp/AllConv.asp?forumId=F100000015

there is bascially a civil war going on between the old and the new factions.

here is a tongue-in-cheek posting regarding the war:
socialize.morningstar.com/NewSocialize/asp/FullConv.asp?forumId=F100000015&convId=200868

here is a little more, let's say, "direct" posting regarding the war -- especially regarding the level of moderation at the link you provided above:
socialize.morningstar.com/NewSocialize/asp/FullConv.asp?forumId=F100000015&convId=200585

meanwhile, the M* folks are working to improve their forums:

The funny thing about the M* forums are paying members to the company still have to pay to post.

I wasn't aware of the politics, I just like the nice functionality that the YaBB system provides, such as easy searching, etc.

the $5 lifetime "posting fee" is simply there as a deterrent to spammers, that's all.  if you have been to the Yahoo investing forums, you know that it's a complete mess and an absolute waste of time.  the way M* has it set up, once you spam and they lock you you have to try really hard to get another account.
