Has anybody ever owned one, or managed one?

I've got an opportunity to buy one, and it appears to be a good buy. Although I don't know anything about the liquor business. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

My in-laws owned one for about 12 years.  Between being shoplifted by the customers, robbed blind by the employees and being robbed at gunpoint-it's a great business!

It all depends on what part of town your in, but your employees will steal twice what the customers do.

What's the size of your town? How many competitors? Are you self financing, using seller financing, bank financing or a combination of all?

What's the selling price?

What are the store's gross sales in the past 5 years?

Yearly cash flow?

Will they show all books to your CPA?

Will they train you after you buy their store?

Who's going to work for you? Are they all able to be licensed to sell liquor?

TABC don't mess around so ask them/Austin LOTS of questions and get their answers in writing.

Liquor store is a wickedly lucrative  retail operation.
Even  horribly mismanaged it will be  a huge money maker.
.
Hard to go wrong selling tobacco and booze.
See if you can run a drive up window, those do REALLY well in Texas.
