what are you allowed to carry in the way of a folder in Iraq or any hot zone for that reason? Do any of you carry the Boker Military Tanto folder? What do you think of it?.

A good friend of mine owns a custom metal fabrication shop and has his hands on some D2 steel. With his CMC machine we plan on making up 50-100 ranger style plane jane work knifes with para-cord wrapped handles to send over to his nephew.

During OIF II in baghdad no one really cared if you were carrying a pig-sticker, I carried a cold steel night force folder everyday and also carried my SRK out on patrol quite a bit-really handy for poping shitty locks and stuff...

Unless things are way different now your nephew should be gtg with knives-no frills "working knives" are sure to make him popular with his platoon mates....hell I wish someone would have hooked us up when I was there!

I say do it, and; family or not-thanks for supporting the troops

When we flew in AF planes, we had to put anything dangerous in our baggage.  I once got nailed at the embassy downtown with a laptop, thumb drive, and knife which they kept for me until I got my badge.

If you're working over there, you can pretty much carry whatever.  That goes for the commo geeks at GD, CSC, ITT, Anteon, KBR and the shooter groups as well.   I've not seen the Boker you asked about, but it should be ok.   What's your job?
