We had a pile of them, no one used them so we tossed them.

On a MK-19 of a M2 I guess you could use them.

Tried one on, attempted to shoulder a rifle, never wanna touch another one.

There's no such thing as "cheek weld" with one of those.  Not even close.

It seems like door gunners on helos use those sometimes.

The face shield that aircrew use is primarily to keep the wind off their face and mike boom so that the other crew can hear what they are saying.  I don’t think it has any ballistic rating…

Gentex specs for the maxillofacial shield shows it's rated to 550 fps.  

Good enough for accidentally hitting the spade grip on a 240D, flying debris or something thrown around a cabin.
