WHY THE HELL DID YOU INGEST C4??
LOL. I didn't that I know of. I never even touched it but I did touch pieces of metal that we blew up with it and didn't wash my hands before eating an MRE. Just trying to figure out if this is the reason I got so sick 36hrs after being around it. Sounds like it was something else though. |

There is persisting folklore about C4 being sugar or something like that and being safe to eat. Its been around for a while. One of the folks who ate it was a experienced SSG with 10+ years in. I became very sick after working around C4 and just wanted to know if it might be from the C4 or if I just got food poising from an MRE. This way in the future I can be more careful. |

Maybe you did eat it, maybe you didn't. My gut reaction is you did. If your superiors had the same thought in their minds they would tell you the same thing. Why would you ask the brilliant minds of ARFCOM about the matter instead of going to sick call? Perhaps I was harsh, but this is a subject I'm a little sensitive to. If you have done nothing wrong, then drive on and ignore the words of an anonymous NCO. If you did do it, then take it to heart, thank God for him smiling on your foolishness, and drive on. |

Guts feelings by NCO's ruin careers. Go on proof or STFU. Everyone knows a dumbass who's done this and that, it doesn't make it the norm, and if it is the norm around you, then there is a leadership problem, and it starts with you. If this offends you then yes, you are the one I'm talking to.
OP, the residue is toxic, but unless you were literally licking it off of what it was stuck to, I don't believe you would have any reactions other than maybe a mild stomach ache by ingesting it with your MRE unintentionally. You should at least attempt to wash your hands after touching anything in those fucking shit holes (Iraq, Afghan). It might not have been the MRE or C4 residue. I know it's near impossible to stay clean out there, but I carry hand sanitizer and use it a lot, and I wear gloves as often as possible too, taking them off, and washing my hands before digging into any chow.
