I joined my first ever Fantasy Football League this year...well, I actually I joined two. I watch football just about every Sunday and we have the NFL Sunday Ticket through Direct TV...yet I still don't know who's good, better, and/or best when it comes to picking players for my teams...especially for fantasy points. Are there any good FREE websites out there that list the top 10 picks for each category? I know there are a few fantasy leagues floating around here, so I don't expect you to share your top secret picks - unless of course you want, which will be greatly appreciated - but any help would greatly be appreciated. If ya'll want to come up with a true fantasy team for me to "draft" and I win either leagues, I'll gladly share the cash prize with you. I'm not in it so much for the money, but rather the bragging rights. I absolutely despise a few of the guys in each league and I'd nothing better than to beat them every week. Thanks guys! |

Here's a free site that list about the Top 20 or so players depending on the respective position. Granted, it doesn't give much reasoning to the picks but the rankings look pretty good in my opinion. Just google "Fantasy Football *position here* Rankings 2011" and you'll find a shitload of websites. I'd give you more advice, but I don't want to say anything that may give away my draft strategy to peeking ARFCOMers. |

There are probably hundreds, if not thousands, of fantasy football sites and "experts" out there. All the big names have lots of info - ESPN, Yahoo!, NFL.com, CBS Sports - and they all have "cheat sheets" to help you draft. KNOW THE RULES. Does you league award 4 or 6 points for passing TDs? With 6pt pass TDs, you pretty much need on of the top 6 or 7 QBs if you want to win. With 4pt pass TDs, QB is less important. Do not draft a kicker before the final round. Just don't. Check the Defense/Special Teams scoring. In some leagues, D/ST is an after thought and in others it's more important. In most cases, you want to pick your D/ST in the next-to-last round of the draft. Personally, I'm all for playing matchup D all year long. FWIW, the Panthers play the Cardinals in week one. The Bengals play the Browns. Buffalo plays KC. The KC, CLE or AZ defenses should have good weeks, if you know what I mean. There is A LOT of luck involved. Arian Foster was a 5th round pick last year. A few years ago I got DeAngelo Williams late and he more or less won the league for me. Injuries will crush a team that looks great on paper. Tom Brady, anyone? Do some mock drafts. I like the mock drafts at Fantasy Football Calculator, but ESPN, Yahoo! and CBS all have free mock drafts. Read some different columnists. Find one or three that you think you agree with and follow them throughout the season. |

How many teams in your league and what draft position do you have?
Check out this site for mock drafts based on league size (8,10,12). I find this helps in giving an indication of when people are being drafted and allows me to grab someone before anyone else may jump on them. Granted I have been involved in drafts that go a totally different way, but still I like using this for research. The research is part of the fun. Trying to set line-ups eat week can be the headache. |
