I shut off our main unit, and now all it will do is beep two times over and over. and not come on. Over the past few days the display has been blanking out and coming back on. I check no dust in the system, and all of the conections appear to be tight. any suggestions before i need to take it to the shop.
Thanks
Dan

Is it a commercially built PC or a custom build?

If the former, what's the make and model?
If the latter, what's the mainboard make and model?

The beeps are a result of the POST (power on self test) failing. The beeps will tell you what the problem is.

Start removing cards - AFTER making sure the memory is firmly locked in.  IMO one of the periphs are bad (sound card/modem, etc)

First off, turn off the power supply at the back, then unplug the cable.  Wait a minute and then plug it back in, and turn it on, then press the power button on the front.  Post your results.

Might be a bad PSU.

Phoenix BIOS uses three sets of beeps (like 1-1-2) so yours is probably an AMI BIOS.

2 short beeps is a memory parity error.

"A memory parity error has occurred in the first 64K of RAM.  The RAM IC is probably bad."

HP Pavilion a6237c.  AMD 64 X2 DC Processor 5000+, 3 Gig mem, 500 gig hard drive,(2 years old) I tried all the conection that I could find and they are tight and clean, so I guess I'll pick up the memory boards and see if that is the problem, if not i'm lost at this point.
