I am trying to set up my computer to use y router with Utorrent but am having an issue. When I type the IP number into firefox or internet explorer neither will work. Firefox shows a blank page and IE gives me a can not find server error and tells me to check my setting. But I have no problems accessing the internet with either browser for everything else.
I know just enough about computers to really screw one up. I have been following the directions from here http://portforward.com/ and it worked fine before my hard drive died. I replaced the drive and reinstalled windows and it works for everything else. Any hints or tips on where to check for? Thanks.

If you don't know much about computers or the internet, then what are you doing trying to set up your home pc to upload Torrents? I had it working before by following the directions online. That is something i can do. If it doesn't go as planned then well, I need some help. Can't learn anything by not trying it. |

When you say you are typing in the IP to your browser.. Do you mean you are trying to access your routers settings? If so what brand router do you have? try typing in 192.168.1.1 into your web browser (may be it depending on brand). Yes, i am trying to access the router settings. The number I was using was 192.168.101. I tried yours and it works. Thanks. It is a dynex. Now off to cause more computer havoc.

To point your browser at your Router Configuration page, as stated, the IP is probably 192.168.1.1
Go to Start > Run. Type CMD. in the command field, type " IPconfig" You will see your IP Address and subnet mask. Your IP Address will give you some clue. if it's a 192 addy, then your router is most likely the IP Above. Depending on the router, and who set it up, you could be using 10dot subnet. 10.1.1.1, or 10.0.0.1? Find your Router's make and model, and Google that + default settings. |
