When I close it, its not really closed.   It won't reopen, but under processes its still there.   If I close it there then it will reopen.   The java functions don't work either.  Any suggestions?

how long until it goes away from task manager?

opera can take up to a minute sometimes to fully close for me.     sometimes its just easier to ctrl alt del  and end the task with opera.

never heard the issue with ff, nor do i use it

if you go through the advanced options you can enable java  or do you have plugins installed thats blocking it?

I get this issue too, I need to kill it with task manager. Try a reinstall, it may also be an addon you have.

No stop button on any browser has worked for me since the early part of the century.

I have switched almost exclusively to Chrome.  Still use IE of course.  Firefox is one of the worst pieces of software I have installed in a long, long time.

Opera is good too.

Sorry to all the fanboys out there, but Firefox is a resource pig, slow, annoying, etc.

I heard Chrome tracks everything you do.  Is that true?

haha oh really? Go check the stats on the downloads of FF compared to IE. People have seen the light, and it isn't IE that is for sure.

I had that issue. Vista64 also.

Re-install firefox.

If you open the bookmarks toolbar -> organize bookmarks you can back them all up to make it easy to restore upon reinstall. Make a list of your installed add-ons, too.
