just put Windows 7 RC on this pc, just to give it a run and see how it goes. was wondering if vista drivers and software will work for windows 7 like winxp and win2k used the same drivers.

I doubt it, but since your the one that's testing it, let me know.  I never even made the switch to Vista; I put XP on my quad core desktop.  I hope 7 is an improvement.

The vista driver model is the same as windows 7.

Thanks for the info. Installed sound card and chipset drivers just a while ago, they are the win vista only and whql'd and they went with no probs. if they werent compatible, i'd be screwed till they come out with the drivers.

The only drivers that I have come across that are Win7 specific are for my nVidia video card.  Everything else I just use Vista.  It works perfectly.

exact same thing on mine, only nvida display drivers for win 7. even with the vista drivers it all seems to work fine so far.

In most cases, Vista drivers will work.  



I deliberately installed a Intel Vista graphics driver instead of the Windows 7 pre-release driver on my laptop.



It ran fine.

day 2 and all seems well for windows 7. only prob i had with installations so far was with nero 8, cant even get the installer started with it. and so far all the drivers seem very stable.
