Can someone recommend a good external hard drive? I want something that is easy to use to backup mostly pictures. Thanks!

Ive got a Western Digital 500gb HD. So far so good. Ive had it for a couple years. Ive got 90,000 files on it (MP3s).

Ive also got a Maxtor 80gb HD external as well. When its plugged in, it sounds like a small jet engine. So I dont use it that much. The 500gb is pretty quiet.

After having Maxtor and Western Digital drives die on me so often, I moved to Seagate and have not had a drive die on me since.

My Maxtor power supply/cord did die on my a couple years ago, That was the only issue Ive had with it, other than sounding like a jet engine.

I've got a five year old 80gb Western Digital.  Quiet and reliable.  I sometimes forget it's on.

The best I've ever had is the western digital passport.  I carry it in a laptop bag every day and I've had no problems.  You have to use it on a powered USB port.

I use Seagate and Western Digital.  Been using them for 6 years now and haven't had a problem yet.
