Heres a thought. If you don't like it don't use it. Its that simple. There are tons of free email providers.
Gmail DOES have the ability to use HTTPS. It always has. But now they have made it easier for you to use SSL by allowing you to set it as a preference instead of having to manually add the HTTPS protocol in the URL. Also, your mail is most likely stored and transmitted in unencrypted plaintext anyway so why are you bitching? -Foxxz |

he complains "i never meant to actually send the mail"... can you explain to me why you are typing out these secrets in a web form, titled "compose mail" - which mysteriously appeared after you clicked a "compose" button?
like the others have said, there is no reason not to check off the "always use HTTPS" in the settings menu. email is inherently insecure in its common form, and i especially don't trust google any further than i can throw it (hard to tell safari to "throw" a remote host). that said, i use a gmail account for most personal correspondence. i just know not to expect security. |
