A week ago I picked up a new HP Pavilion desktop with Vista and have never had so many problems with a computer before. First off, every time I connect to the internet things seem to run fine for about five minutes and then pages stop loading. I have only found two remedies for this 1. reboot 2. reset the network card. Second, if I reset the network card more than twice the system does a nose dive and instantly shuts down. No warning or anything, just click and the computer is off. When I restart the computer it shows that the computer has crashed and asks to start in safe mode or not. I have gone into the reliability and performance monitor and it shows that it crashed but the only explanation is that it was not shut down properly. Right now the reliability monitor index is at 4.96. I have updated all drivers and vista updates from both microsoft and hp and cannot seem find any help on either websites. I am running vista home premium, amd athlon 64 x2 5200+, with 3gb ram. Any ideas on what might be wrong or should I just take it back. |
Sorry not the network card, the network adapter. If I go into network connection status, and hit diagnose it says that it finds no problems but I could try to reset the network adapter. |

NO don't bother the network card is onboard. thats why i was asking.. don't open the case they might not let you return it!! i'f you don't have any info on the drive run the recovery and start from scratch, if it still has issues get it exchanged where you purchased it |

Is the NA really ON - I know on my HP Laptop I accidentally SHUTOFF the adapter (there is a push button flush on/off) - check to see if the blue light is on the top of the keyboard frame. Trust me I virtually did all kinda un/installs - I even came here for help and then suddenly I noticed the "ON" BLUE LIGHT wasn't on. Hit the button and VOILA - fucking ON! Check it out. |

My wife had the same issues with her HP laptop running Vista. The problem is HP, not Vista. Trust me, they do so many screwy things it is not funny. I went ahead and called HP and requested a vanilla DVD of Vista, without their drivers and apps. They honored my request and the laptop has been fine since then. |
