This problem only happens on the Vista side.

The computer won't go into sleep mode sometimes.  Example.  If I boot up the computer at 6am, and I need to put the box to sleep it will do do twice.

On the third try, the screen goes dark, but it won't go into sleep mode.  At that point, I press the on/off button and the computer will reboot up and give me an error message during the reboot process.

If left alone it will reboot on its own, sometimes.

On occasion, I'm forced to unplug it, pull the battery and reboot that way.

I've researched this on Google extensively.  No luck.

The error logs didn't turn anything up.

It doesn't happen on the XP side as far as I know.  But I don't use the XP side very often.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem

Can't find a fix either...

but this what I do:

hit the windows start button on your laptop
hit the right arrow 3 times
hit the up arrow 3 times
hit enter

you're simply restarting, and it works every time.

(do it with your screen working and you'll see what you're doing)

I know it's a stupid workaround, but it's better than pulling your battery.

According to several websites, changing the "USB selective suspend setting" to disabled in the Vista advanced power settings seems to have solved the problem.
This has to be done in each of the power settings for Vista.  Battery and powered, power saver, balanced and high performance.

I manually put the computer to sleep five times yesterday with no issues.  I use the sleep mode often, especially when running on batteries.
