just how easy/hard is it to replace a laptop LCD screen??just wondering because my niece found a dell 1100 laptop while dumpster diving at a apartment complex. it works great but the screen has a big crack in it. I've seen a couple on e-bay cheap so i was thinking about getting one and fixing it up for her. if only to keep her kids off mine they can play games on it and i don't have to hide my po... err biology photos

Well, if you choose to use it as a desktop, there should be a port for an exterior screen. I've used one like that for years.

I've heard it's relatively easy to take the old one out and slap a new one it. If you can find a screen cheap I'd say go for it, as the screen is one of the priciest things to replace on a laptop.

If you're handy with a screwdriver its pretty easy. Just don't lose the screws.

Most laptops you can find the service manual online for them, just Google for it.

super simple with a dell.

When you buy one and you cant figure it out, give me a call and I can walk ya through it. PM me and I can send my number to ya. Once you start taking it apart you wont need my number though.

Not to hard just make sure you keep track of every screw and also find all the screws that need to be taken out. Also make sure you disconnect all the wires that go to the screen. Might include a wireless lan card cable.
