I'm tasked with working on my company's web site.  I had web design in high school and we used front page. Any one know where i could find front page 2003 or recommend some other software. thanks for the help.

Frontpage puts too much code in the page. Adobe Dreamweaver if you are up to learning it.

times have changed. unless you are looking at the most simplistic of sites, i'd look at using an open source content management system, like joomla, drupal, or plone, and buying a commercial skin (visual design/theme) for it - which you can then customize even further. put your personal efforts into the information architecture, usability, and site management/administration instead.

I found that while some sites are really cool looking, I dont have the imagination/taste to come up with these things on my own.  It takes a certain kind of person (think interior design people) to design an aesthetic looking site.

That being said, there is open source software out there- aptana is one of the more indepth ones.

Dreamweaver is my vote.. but like the other posted stated, go with something like Joomla. Our web dev guys use it for almost every client now and customize it to their needs.

Also, Frontpage really screws things up by putting in unnecessary code that you don't need.  Trust me, it is a royal PITA

+1.

FP sucks. Stay away from that like the plague.

I used to think that it was so neat making websites off of FrontPage wizards.

Then, my time got more and more expensive and I hated wasting it.

I use Joomla for all my sites now. A godaddy-hosted website (on linux of course) plus a free Joomla template equals a quick happy site.  For even better results get a subscription to a site like rockettheme.com for some killer pre-built templates. Their RocketLauncher utility is freaking incredible.
