| I'm looking for some freeware (I'm a noob and dont want to waste my money yet) to encrypt a 2 gb flash drive. Whats the best and easiest way to do so on a shoe string budget? Thanks. |
Install TrueCrypt to the drive in "Traveller Mode". So long as you can run TrueCrypt from the drive itself, you will be able to access the encrypted partition. If you're on a machine that won't let you run unapproved executables, then I think you're fairly SOL. |

As others have suggested, it's hard to go wrong with TrueCrypt. Unfortunately, "traveler mode" requires admin privs, which makes it mostly useless unless you control all the machines you'd want to run it on, and can thus grant yourself admin rights, in which case you may as well just install TrueCrypt on those machines normally. PGP is OK but it sounds like you're looking for a disk encryption tool like TrueCrypt. |
