My printer is officially dead in the water.  It's an old Lexmark Z42 that I got many years ago for $99, so I definitely got my $ worth.

What I'm looking for are recommendations on a good multi-function printer.  I would like to have a FAX/Scanner without taking up more desktop real estate.  Some things I'm looking for in particular are;

  • Individual ink cartridges

  • Borderless 4x8 photograph prints

  • Multiple format memory card reading

  • ~$300 or less



I haven't really looked at printers in years, so I'm not sure what the better choices are these days.  Any help would be appreciated.

+1  unless they changed from what they were 5 years ago...no thanks.  They didnt quite nail down the multi-function  at that point.  I am curious as to how they are now...especially as a photo printer...
