[ARCHIVED THREAD] - cd/rom problem

The cd rom in my computer will not run a game I am attempting to install. I have some games already installed that require a disk. The drive reads those just fine. I try to install a new one and the computer does not show a disk in the drive and will not do anything. Any Ideas?

Does it show other CD's in the drive?

When looking at the disk, do you see a discoloration ring going around it? Deep scratches?

The cd looked fine it is brand new just out of the box.

My thought too. More and more games are being released on DVD disks instead of CD disks. If it's a DVD disk then a CD drive won't read it.

Check the system requirements for the game. If it says you need a DVD drive, then it's a DVD disk.
