We have gotten to the point of needing a 2nd computer for the kids to use on school projects and I want to get a laptop & set up a wireless network. Have a D-Link AirPlus G DI-524 Wireless Router so that part of the equation is covered.

Been looking at Dell and Lenovo laptops as I get a discount from them both at work and through AAFES & want to stay under $700 and the cheaper the better.

Major use for the laptop will be games & surfing the web along with banking and that kind of crap.

Don't need anything fancy, but am looking for a 15" screen to eas the strain on my tired old eyes.

Not sure how far out we are from getting it, might be tax refund cash, or earlier.

Just priced this out at Dell for $724:

The part in red and the part in green are not compatible.

Most modern games require a very fast video processor. This laptop doesn't have that, and one that does will cost a lot more than $700.

It is probably best to not use wireless for banking.

The games will be older games like Neverhood,  Harpoon Classic, Duke Nukem 3D and some kid games. Nothing that new or anything that requires much of a video card.

Have you looked at some of the refirb ones at dell, tiger direct, ect?  They come with the same warranty as new most of the time.  I think that my next one will be used.  Last time I spent over a grand.
