[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Remote access DIY?

What's the simplest, user-configurable and preferably free way of accessing my home network from the road?

I've looked at 'go to my pc' but I though I had seen a few ways to set the same thing up without a monthly fee.

i use dyndns.org a linksys router. and remote desktop my main machine is running vista ultimate

A cheap computer running a SSH daemon.

Just be sure to disable root logins.
