I changed my OS this weekend, going from Win2000 Pro to XP Home. My wife couldn't get her new digital camera to upload pics to the computer and other problems. I have been using Netscape as a browser since, well, I remember upgrading to Netscape version 1.1 sometime back in the '90s. I am using ATT Yahoo DSL for my ISP. I downloaded and installed Netscape again since my old one wouldn't work under XP. I couldn't get the mail, adresses or settings to import so I am having to go from scratch. I finally managed to get my incoming email setup but get an error message when I try to send mail. It says the SMTP server is either not accepting email or my settings are wrong. I called tech support and got someone in the Phillipines who doesn't speak much english. They forgot to tell me that my user name was my whole email address. That little fix made it possible for me to receive email but I can't reply or send. Walking thru the settings with them shows my settings are right, but they said that before when I couldn't receive. I found the user name by accident. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Jim ETA: I installed an OEM version of XP Home on a second harddrive in my computer. I left Win2000 Pro on the other drive. On startup it asks which OS I want to use. Jim |
