Ok, my last computer I built was great and all and still am in love with it, but it started to bog down w/ all of the video editing I was doing.  So I decided to build a stronger one, pass my other one to my wife, and hers is going to our oldest daughter.

Here's the specs of my new rig.  Tell me what you think.

ASUS P5GD1 Motherboard

- Intel Pentium 4 Socket LGA775, up to 3.8 GHz
- 800MHz FSB
- 4 Dual Channel DDR400 Slots
- 3 PCIExpress x1
- 1 PCIExrpress x16
- 6 USB 2.0
- 4 ATA133, 2 SATA

Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz (800FSB)

1 GB Corsair DDR400 (512MBx2)

- PC3200
- CAS Latency: CL2.5

Western Digital 160 GB Hard Drive

- 8MB Cache Serial ATA150 7200 RPM

GeForce 6600 PCI Express

- 256MB DDR
- 128-bit advanced memory interface
-----------------------------------------

I also got a DVD Burner and a stupid Floppy Drive cuz my wife wanted me to put one on mine since the baby killed the one on hers (cookies don't go into floppy drives, FYI) but those aren't important.  I also took out my Audigy ZS2 7.1 Sound Card out of my old one and put it on the new one, so that's about it.

Thoughts?

looks pretty sweet except for the harddrive.  A buddy of mine does data retrieval.  He sees WD before anyother drive.  I mainly use seagate and seagate's

taxman how did your downgrade???

Had got a set of 500 watt speakers and a 19" LCD last month, sold both of them and back to my 15" CRT and shitty speakers.

Also got rid of the other computer on the network I had running

Very nice!  In for a little bit of gaming?  Which games?  And which case are you putting that in, an old Packard Bell case?

close to the specs of what I just put together
I have a little bit less graphics card (geforce 6200 AGP with only 128MB ram) and a SATA HD (I assume the one pictured is regular ATA since it doesn't have SATA prominently on the front)
that brings up a pain in the ass issue. SATA drives have a different power connector too, so I had to find an adaptor

I have an SATA in my computer.  The one pictured is just something I grabbed out of Google Images to make my thread look "prettier".

I installed Doom 3 and Battlefield 2 to play but haven't been doing to much since I installed them.  I tested both to see how they both run and they're running fluid on the highest settings.  Makes me happy.  What makes me even happier, I just finished rendering a small video and it flew through the rendering process w/ no hickups.  I think I'm in love!!!

Here's the case I stuck it in.

Intel - bah.  You spent more for the name.  AMD64.

With what you could have saved on the CPU, you could have gotten a Raptor 10K HD.

Your computer would be signifigantly faster.

You did want us to be honest right?
