I hope this sort of question is acceptable here, but I recently decided to try my hand at building a computer. Unfortunately, it restarts without warning and without a BSOD when playing Minecraft.
I have very limited knowledge about this stuff, but my guesses are heat, power supply, and RAM in that order. Any help would be great. Specs: AMD A10-5800K Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H G.Skill Ripjaws X series 2 x 2gb DDR3 1866 Rosewill 400w power supply I was planning on getting a new cooler, at some point and try some minor overclocking. If the problem is heat, I figured I'd go ahead and get a cooler now, and if that didn't help I'd get a better quality power supply. I don't know much about this stuff, but I did read something about ram being unstable at certain frequencies, so I thought I might try some ram at 1600MHz. I am using the integrated graphics right now. I don't know if it would help or hurt to get a video card, but I'm not opposed to it. Thanks again for any input. |

If the power supply doesn't fix the issue, try setting it to show you the BSOD rather than just restart. You can get the error message that way. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/automatic-restart-windows-7.htm I actually tried this, but it still didn't give me the BSOD. I'll double check it though, thanks. |
