So - we have a screened 20' x 40' "cook shack" with a couple surrounding small buildings for storage/pantry, etc.

We have wi-fi with decent speed, radio antenna and router, but no computer out there.

I would like to hear some camera/software/hardware options that would allow me to keep tabs remotely.

I don't think I need a constantly rolling dvr system, but would like cams set to motion for stills or video that would alert me via text or something.

Minimum of 3 cams for interior and exterior.

Only 2 means of ingress/egress and both have power. Might also consider some drive way alerts that would que us to check the cameras.

Thanks in advance.

I'm actually doing the same think at my parents ranch currently.

I started out with some Foscam units for them for Christmas. The Foscams are budget friendly (bought a outdoor camera and a indoor one with PTZ for under $150 to get them started), offer wireless, POE capable ethernet and the fixed cameras do come with mounts. They have their own independent firmware which has motion detection/email alerts but I'm not using it and instead using a program called Zoneminder. It's a linux based program but runs well on older computers (probably dual core or newer for a 3-5 cameras.

Zone minder does offer definable detection zones, cameras the do monitoring, motion detect and recording, email alert, etc. One of the things I do like about it is the ability to have an internal camera motion detection trigger recording for the entire system. It does however, require that a computer be on scene.

Foscams are about as good as you can do for the money. Next step up is quite a jump in price. I use LiveCamsPro on my mobile devices to monitor my cams.
