cause by driver " ntoskrnl.exe ".

Was flying a plane in Flight Simulator X, and I got the "BSOD" after about 2 or 3 hours into the flight.

Did some online research.. thought it might be a memory issued.

Installed memtest86, and let it run. No errors found.

Then, tried to boot system... didn't like that.   Every time I went to boot, it would beep twice, shut down, then boot again (on its own), then beep, then shut down.

Took each memory stick out, and even when trying one vs. another, then none of the above, it was still doing it.

I ended up pulling the battery to reset the motherboard (which did the trick).

Any ideas? What a bitch.

First thing I'd recommend is making sure your BIOS and all drivers are the latest versions available. Considering that your PC wouldn't boot until you cleared CMOS leads me to think it's likely a hardware issue, but it's hard to to say for sure.

Another simple thing you may want to try is replacing the BIOS battery with a fresh one. I've seen dying BIOS batteries cause some really weird issues over the years.

I did a major update to the BIOS / motherboard a few weeks ago. I am just ensuring everything is updated.

Ok, it was all up to date.

Any clue? I might run FSX again to try and recreate it again.

Eta: phone's auto correct is a bitch.

I have to ask, are you using an add-on aircraft?

My Dell i5 laptop DOES NOT LIKE the A-10 I have.

Will run the included  F/A-18 in full beast mode, but hates that damn A-10.

I am.

PMDG 777.

ETA: I was told it's not their software, it might aggravate it,  but the BSOD is hardware related.
