I don't know if this is the forum to ask this as this isn't a really technical issue but its the one that fits the best so...

My son who is 8 bought a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 for his birthday with money he had saved and money received from the grandparents. He needs a protective case for it. I like the Griffin Survivor case and he likes the Hard Candy Shock Drop. What is pushing me to the Survivor in the hard numbers that they give on the specs of it. The Shock Drop doesn't do this but it seems from what other information that I have searched out that it is pretty comparable. But no hard number and I haven't found any true torture videos about the cases. So can the Shock Drop protect from spilled drinks or a light rain as someone who should have put his tablet in his backpack but didn't goes from the van to the house? Can it survive a 3' drop on to a gravel driveway or a tile floor?

Any help or information is greatly appreciated.

I use otterbox for all my cases.  Never had any issues w/them.

I liked it too but had cut it from the line-up do to it being the highest priced one of the bunch. I had figured that spec wise it wasn't any better than the Griffin but cost $20+ more.
