Does anyone have experience with StraightTalk or Net10 type android phones?

I have a droid X with verizon that is coming off of contract here in a few weeks.  My current bill is about $92 a month with tax.  The phone itself is fine.  It has good reception, and decent battery life (after the last software update to gingerbread).

I've recently seen these android phones advertised in stores for unlimited data plans for around $45-50 a month.  I would like to save some money, but if the phones are pieces of junk then I will reconsider.  One thing I'm concerned with is that these phones may have poor battery life,

You're better off buying your own unlocked phone and just getting a sim card with the carrier of your choice.

The Google Nexus is $350 and unlocked.

If you like your current phone look into Page Plus. They use Verizon's network so all you would have to do is pick a plan and port your phone# over. I used them for a couple of years but when I bought my last phone I decided I needed something with more data. Now I am on T-Mobile's monthly $30 plan with unlimited data. The downside is I only get 100 minutes. Overage is only 10 cents per minute though and I rarely use more than 200 minutes so I am still under $40 a month most of the time.

We have two Droid X's on Pageplus. We are happy with them and a lot of money ahead.
