i am at the point of throwing this thing out the window, it is a 1.5 year old hp, that i just recently sent in under warranty for the hard drive failing. Nothing new has been installed on it other than the normal browsers and whatnot, but what is killing me is that on firefox i can be surfing the web and then it will randomly "not responding" so i try and x out which doesnt work CTL ALT DLT is not working for it and i cant even turn the computer off after it happens. so i have to power it down via the power button, every once in a while after it restarts after this happening it gives me a screen that says something along the lines of pxe-e61 or something like that about a cable being loose. happens on google chrome as well.
also alot of times when i click the back arrow to go to previous page it takes a long time, yet if while its waiting to go back i type in google.com it goes there right away. ... to end it all, if it does restart without the pxe code, it lags while loading up and then takes 15+ min to actually allow me to move the mouse and whatnot,. cclean was done, virus scan and even dfragging did nothing any help would be appreciated |

I would suspect the hard drive but I have had bad memory do this too. Check for proper cooling inside the case and make sure the memory and hard drive is not getting unusually warm or hot.
Boot up in safe mode and see if it happens in safe mode as well. I had the exact same problem last year and it ended up being the hard drive. Eventually it will just give out. |

by the fan gets really warm, almost hot. and the problem the last time was it kept kicking me off and i got a warning saying hard drive is crashing or something along those lines.
is there a reason why if im looking at this page and click the back arrow it takes a long time, yet while that happens i can click the "general" tab at the top and it will take me right there without waiting or would that be related to the freezing problem? |

If you click a link, all the data is new from the net but if you back up it is cached from the hard drive. If you are running Firefox, tools, options, advanced, network, and verify amount of cache available. My override cache is unchecked so FF can use as much as it wants. |
