I bought this card back in August for my new gaming PC build.

I'm thinking about updating the drivers specifically by ATI. Should I be okay using the ATI driver versus the ones from MSI?

You'll be fine. I always download from nVidia or ATI err AMD and I never use the driver CD that come with video cards.
