Im calling out for help desperately. Heres the back story, 2 weeks ago I take my laptop to Best Buy It had been throwing up the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!!!!. I know its the end of the world right, but back to the topic at hand. Kid looks at it says its most likely the hard drive, then tells me I'm good cuz it still has 8 days warranty left. Its sent off and comes back only to find out its becuase i have 2 anti-virus softwares on it. They say theyre gonna remove the norton for me no charge and Ill be good to go.
Fast forward to today where one of my guys picks up the computer for me. I get it and fire it up and HOLY SHIT, it is not fixed. I call em up and they say "oh well we had problems, but you can do it yourself" So i download the uninstaller from norton and i cant even get the thing started long enough to run it. I call them up and they tell me if i reinstall windows i can just wipe everythign clean and itll be fixed. Well i try to start it with the disk in the drive and it doesnt load at start. I call em again and they say i need to change my boot order. Heres where you guys come in, Can someone help me try to figure this out. talk me through it something, Ill be honest im not the smartest when it comes to computers but this isnt rocket science. PM me if you think you can help or post here, something, Im about ready to throw it at the wall. |

Boot the computer into safe mode and see if you can do a system restore to an earlier date, and see if that stops the bsod issue. |

blue screens in safe mode too I guess you will have to change the boot options in the bios to the dvd drive and try to boot into the Windows disc from there to perform a clean install. If that doesn't work then you are fubar. (you might be able to save the system by using another 2.5 inch HDD to try and perform a clean install if the current on won't allow you to do so). |

Changing your boot order is as easy as navigating a menu. To get there there start the computer, during the first BIOS screen you see start hitting F2, F8 and F12 at different times (one of these is needed, it's different for different BIOS versions), odds are you will then enter the setup BIOS section. From there navigate to the Boot Order section and change it to boot from CDROM first. Select whatever option there is to save and exit.
Put your Windows Disc in the CD tray and restart the machine. Windows will probably take over from there. Edit: If the multiple F buttons dont get you into BIOS setup watch the screen once during startup, the BIOS will usually indicate what button to press to get into Seutp. |

Or simpler yet you can read your boot screen as its booting up, there is usually something along the lines of "F10 to boot to another device", lot easier than mucking in the BIOS. This is another reason not to ever use Best Buy tech services or buy their extended warranties. |
