I live in a place where I access the internet through a shared router.

Today while doing some updates, my browser crashed and it had an unusual web address in the header:

proxy://11764f10-2a3d-012d-b978-12313d01e201/

Is there any way to determine if this is a proxy setup to intercept any of my internet access or log my activity?

Its probably nothing, but thought I would run it through someone more knowledgeable about this than myself.

Thanks!

The de-obfuscator tool I use says that is URL:

http://0.0.45.244/

That is definitely a proxy or device, as it's on the local network.

It may be the cable provider though, sometimes they interject DNS queries to non existent domains and put up a web page with ads on it, and sometimes they outright inject ads.

My guess, is the crash was a messed up ad, it might have been malicious some ad networks don't adequately review the ads they let people put up, so there are drive-by infections on legit ad networks.  Nice huh?

Take this as a reminder to update your browser and programs and move on. It's probably nothing.
