I'm currently running Gateway NV52 laptop on Windows 7 with IE8.

I have a problem with IE running websites. It's baffling to me, because some websites won't load at all, others load halfway and others will load with no problems.
I don't know if it matters much, but Wikipedia won't load at all, ARFCOM loads completely about 50% of the time and the other 45% it will load about half of a thread completely, but stop and the other 5%, it will load about half of the pictures (if it's a picture thread). Facebook works sometimes, but when it doesn't, it will load more of a text version than the actual version.

I cleaned out my cookies, deleted all browsing history and pretty much everything that you can delete via Internet Options, and it seemed to help a bit (Facebook loads now and so does ARFCOM, mostly) but I'm still having little glitches.

This happened about 3 months ago, then it randomly corrected itself and now it started to happen again about 2 days ago.

Any ideas? I can provide more info if needed.

Why in the world, my good man, would you be running IE?

'cause I don't know any better.

I only recently saw the overwhelming majority of people here running firefox.

You must rectify your err in judgment.

Make it so.

I have as of about 5 minutes ago. So far, I'm seeing some of the same troubles. I hit a some of the re-offending sites and Facebook seems to not be loading right. A lot of profile pictures aren't loading as they should. The page also seems to constantly be loading, as the little dot spinning in a circle never stops.

Though overall, it's a little better, my problem isn't 100% fixed.

on an unrelated topic, why is Firefox better? I'm not seeing much of a difference other than aesthetics

This sounds like packet loss or data transmission problems to me.  I doubt this is IE at all.

Try disabling any third party security software (Except Security Essentials, that won't be the problem).  Also, got a router?  Reboot it.  Reboot your modem too.  (unplug wait 10 seconds, plug back in).

Make sure your cables aren't doing something stupid like running past two florescent light ballasts and a running furnace motor.

I tried the link, and it doesn't seem that it helped much. After it deleted the settings, it routed me to www.beautyoftheweb.com, which decided to stop responding when I tried to go to google. At the same time, I also found out that I'm running IE 9beta, rather than IE8. oops.

I am running a cable modem with a wireless router. I'll reset both of those and report back.

Broccoli: By third party security software, you mean things like Norton, right? That's all I'm running AFAIK

What's the problem with 9 other than the fact that it's still in beta? I like the streamlined-ness of it over 8. Minimal address bar and they eliminated a lot of the clutter that I hated so much.
