I think I had this same issue several years ago, but for the life cant remember exactly how i resovled it so im seeking help

My job allows me to work from home and I use my Verizon DSL to connect to the internet via DLink wireless router

Until last week I had no problems connecting to the internet AND to a VPN/Remote desktop connection.

I was at my corporate office last week and logged into the network there, where they occasionally push out new software to us. I do know they pushed out Quicktime to us when I logged in but not aware of any other programs

When I returned home I could not connect to the internet (ie web browsing) BUT I can connect to the wireless router to access my VPN/Remote desktop

A quick google search revealed that I may have to put my verizon modem into a 'bridge mode'  - BUT  I think I tried that before but it did NOT work when I had the issue before.

Thoughts??

Would the 'bridge' mode block web browsing but allow me to access the VPN/remote desktop?

thanks

Brian

Have you tried switching off the the router, and then turning it back on?

maybe release and renew your ip if reseting the router doesnt do it.

Minor update..  I found out yesterday that the same thing happened to 3 of my coworkers who also telecommute- something that the IT dept pushed out to us killed some of the settings

I dont have admin rights so I cant fix it myself though..

thanks for the help though

They might of setup the VPN client to only allow a tunnel to the office and set that connection up as your gateway. This would cause your local internet to not function until you close out of your VPN tunnel.
