I've been dragging my feet for six months, have a brand new case with a 900w OZ ps sitting next to me, with no guts.  I keep trying to figure out when to build my i7, but now I'm six months out of the loop.  I read today about some new "k" series i7s and am confused.  But here's the question: is there anything new and high speed coming out soon (next six months) that will drive down the prices of current system components?  If I place a newegg order today, will Intel's newest 8 core or AMD's newest whatever come out this summer and make me regret not waiting a little longer?  My current PC is usable.  Annoying, but usable.  I can wait a while longer if prices may drop... Any opinions?

More Intel 6/12 Core i7s will be out in six months which will drop the prices on the 4/8s, but not ridiculously so, probably one price point... I've been in your shoes a few times, you can keep saying 'but it will be cheaper/better in six months' for a very long time.

My prediction:

Prices for currently in production hardware will continually drop. The same will be true in 6 months, 12 months and 120 months from now... just like it has been for the last decade.

Pick a time and make the jump... there will never be a "perfect time" dollar or tech wise to make the plunge.

Maybe I'll drop some coin on a midrange i5 instead, and re-evaluate a year from now.
