Win-7 is what Vista wishes it could be.

Microsoft screwed the pooch with Vista, and got a lot right with Win7.

Operating system versions are interesting:
Vista = v6.0....
Win7 = v6.1.... and NOT v7.x

Vista was the inoperative beta version of windows 7, I don't even remember that it existed sometimes.

I have changed all of the computers in the house to Win 7, most are 64-bit. It is a great operating system.

Been almost 2 hours. Getting everything installed again.

But Vista wont let me install Firefox or Thunderbird???

Asks me which login to install with. I'm an admin with my current account. I tell it to use my credentials and it fails. Any ideas?

I updated this past weekend.  I kinda wish that I had seen this thread earlier.  This is one windows product where the Update actually works.  I was feeling experimental and tried the update, and it went through smoothly and all I needed to reinstall was my sound driver.

Yeah Im not a fan of updating. I believe in wiping the slate clean and getting a fresh partition for it...

Before making the jump earlier, I went to the websites of my peripheral manufacturers and downloaded their drivers to an external hard drive

Claimed to be done because going to 7.x broke too many apps.
