[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Free data recovery software?

I did several searches, no luck. My wife deleted her memory card for her camera. So far the software I've tried shows you a million possible recoveries, then wants $29.99 for the recovery.

Suggestions?

Buy a Lexar Pro, Sandisk Extreme III or IV memory card & you get the software free.

Not all recovery software is the same. The recovered files will have their file name & date info changed.

But as you found the FREE software is free until you want to keep what you recovered.

i got a program called photorec that will recover alot of photos that have been deleted from a memory card. send me a im or email if ya want it .

The battery on my vintage Kodak was going bad and while it would use space on the card, the files just weren't there.

I tried 3-4 different programs and ended up buying Card Recovery. Does an excellent job.

I paid for PhotoRescue Expert PC from datarescue.com when a CF card bought the farm on me. It was worth every penny to recover the images from that day of shooting.

This sucked.

I have had really good luck getting pictures back using Zero Assumption Recovery. I used the free version...........don't know if it is still available, though. good luck

Klix from Joe Software works.......As long as you just deleted the pictures or a quick format you can recover images and have not written over them again.......not free but look about the torrent
