I am a busy college student and am looking for a good digital camera.  Some of the things I am looking for include:

1. 10 megpixels or more
2. compact
3. durable [in case i drop it]
4. some zoom but it's not that important
5. are there any that are water proof?

Any suggestion would be helpful.  Thanks

Budget???  For me one of the best P+S cameras out there is the Canon G11 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/643177-REG/Canon_3632B001_PowerShot_G11_Digital_Camera.html

I personally bought the nikon P6000 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/577368-REG/Nikon_26135_Coolpix_P6000_Digital_Camera.html but the only reason I did that was because I have a Nikon flash and it took it. n Starting fresh I would go with the Canon.

I hadn't really considered a budget.  Since this will be my first digital camera I would rather spend a little extra and get something good.  On the other hand I'm not spending $1k on a pocket camera.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

Don't get hung up on the Megapixel count.  Anything 6 and above, you're good for 8X10's easy.
Durable? Forget it. Be careful. It's a camera, not a soccer ball or hammer.
Water proof?  There are a few WATER RESISTANT point and shoots out there.  Big difference.
Personally, if I wanted another p/s, it would be the Canon G11

The D10 (listed in a link above) is waterproof to 10 meters. Also fairly durable against drops, too. Only a 3x zoom, however.

If you need more than 10M waterproof or want more than a 3x zoom, it might not work... but I think it fits all the rest of the OP's requirements.
