I am having a major problem with my D80.

Take a picture, mirror flips, the camera acts like a picture was taken, only problem is... Nothing is saved.  The imediate preview shows "Folder contains no images" instead of showing the picture.

I have tried multiple SD cards.  I have changed lenses.  I have changed batteries.  Taken of the vertical grip and tried the batter in the main compartment.  Format the memory card.  I have tried a 2 button reset as well as the reset in the menu screens.

Please, ARFcom, you're my only hope.

Thanks everyone!

Have you used these same SD cards in it before? Are they all the same brand and capacity?

Which firmware version is in the camera? Maybe you could try updating, if it's the old version, or overwriting the firmware already in it.

I have used the SD cards before in this camera.  They are all 2 GB San Disc SD cards.  The camera can read from them, I tried updating the firmware last night and it read the firmware update files from the SD card.  If I put a picture file in the proper directory structure it can display on the view screen.  It just does not save anything :(

Did you try reformatting the cards in the camera?

Yes, reformated in the camera.  Tried to reformat on a PC and a Mac then force a reformat in the camera.  Still no go.  It is simply not writing to the card

I've heard this to be an issue with another D80 and it was sent back for warranty work. I had the same issue with my D70s, works great now!

How much was the repair on your D70 if I may ask?

Thanks
