This is my first pic with my new Nikon D90.

I was into (film) photography in high school but I couldn't afford to develop my shots so I just quit. Well I am back into it and looking for feedback.

Don't flame the subject, just the first plant I found when I walked outside. So tell me what I can do better

Is this your first camera?

It took me quite a while to learn how to use it. This was my first camera ever so I had no idea what I was doing at first. I almost sold it to step down to a D40 to make learning easier but i toughed it out.

My first picture

Now I am starting to get better, my UV filter made a big difference... I still have so much to learn, I need a good photo software now

I got a D90 back in January,  Had a D70, passed it on to my wife.  I have the 18-200vr, 70-300 ED, a 50mm from my film days.  I like the picture control, you can download a lot of different controls from various sites or create your own to suit your tastes. My favorite one is called Top Gear and I have one that emulates Kodachrome.  Her is a shot from early spring.  Enjoy your cam!

Meh,  Nikon...

When you say your UV filter helped, what do you mean?  In what way did it help?

-Mark.

Lense glare and color.
