I'm looking at a Canon 430EX II flash and am wondering if this will work with a 35mm Nikon camera body. I know that it will work w/my XSI but I'd like one flash for both cameras.

Thanks.

I would have to say no.

I take it flashes are not interchangeable then? Will I need a dedicated flash for each body (one being a Canon and the other a Nikon)? Any flashes out there that will work with both?

I've never tried this, so I could be completely off... but I would ::GUESS:: that if the flash will fire on the Nikon, it will only work in manual mode.

In other words, you would need to manually set the power that the flash fires at, rather than using an ETTL (evaluate through the lens) solution.

On the Canon cameras, the flash will fire twice... the first flash being just before the main flash, and being less powerful... the camera will sense how bright the flash needs to fire the second time (the actual flash that goes off for the picture) and adjust accordingly.

So I'd go out on a limb and say that even if the flash did work on the Nikon, you wouldn't find it useful, because of this.
