No experience with that one you linked to. Never heard of them either. You'll probably need a Bogen 4-section or something similar. Model #s are eluding me at the moment. I have some Giottos legs that I really like.

I had a Bogen 3021 that I liked a lot.  But it was a bit more than you were looking to spend...

You should look for something used in good shape.

I looked them up on the net after reading a book by Scott Kelby. He recommended them for those of us that wanted quality but don't depend on our gear for a living.

Personally I think you'd be better served buying a set of good legs and a ballhead separately but I realize funds might prevent that. So for future reference on ballheads I'll recommend the Kirk BH-3. The Markins also gets very good reviews.

So..what nationality would you recommend? I've always thought Scandinavian women had great legs!

Well, I have a set from Giottos so I guess I'd say Asian is my preference. Nothing wrong with buying Bogen, though. Italian is nice.

Not sure about other brands, but I know some of the Bogen/Manfrotto tripods have a center column that comes out and can be used horizontally.

My Giottos legs do that. The center column is used horizontally or vertically. It can also be used upside down and if I'm not mistaken you can shorten it if necessary. The legs also have three different angles from normal tripod (almost vertical) to almost completely horizontal. They're awesome even if they don't get the press that Bogen does.

Keep your eye out for a used one.  The best source I have found for used gear is the Buy & Sell forum on FM.  Here's a link...

Here's a couple of others...
