After reading suggestions from others and my total lack of photography skills I dove in, purchased a Nikon D50 with a Nikkor 28-80mm lens, received a great deal on the camera and lens new in the box, and even received a new camera bag for the puppy.

Battery is charging now

WHAT?!

A Nikon D50?

You bought a Nikon...when you could have bought a Canon?

Cute, but get lower to the ground and see if you can find a way to shade the sunny side.

Congrats on the camera, shoot the shit out of it.

Nothing wrong with Nikon for the general consumer.  I went Nikon when I upgraded since I had so much Nikon stuff already.  The lens costs are similar, but Cannon really likes some of their higher end bodies way too much for me.  Most consumers do not need nor can they tell the difference in image quality.

Congrats on the Nikon.

Thanks for the tip; quite honestly, Rookie is the only description for my photography experience.

Thanks,

Have a few Olympus cameras in film and became worn out paying for developing junk photos, now I will not be so broke on prints.
