I've been trying out different gallery software to host my images on one of my sites. I think I've settled on Coppermine, but I'd like some feedback on ease of use. If you get a few minutes, take a look at the site and let me know what you think (here, not as comments on the site).  Thanks

Well first off, if that's your collection, I'm really impressed!!! VERY NICE

For the software, I like that too. Can you provide some more details? How much, from where, ease of use etc?

Thanks,

Gene

Yeah, everything there (in the firearms section) I currently own or have owned.

The software for the gallery is from Coppermine coppermine-gallery.net/ and is free. You do need a supported web server with PHP, MySQL and either GD or ImageMagick installed.  Otherwise setup was pretty simple.

I'm still working through it, but the only issue I've had so far is that there is no way for an administrator to bulk load a user's images, only their own. So to get my girlfriend's first gallery loaded, I made her an admin,. logged in under her account, and did the bulk load of 200+ images. Otherwise she would have had to upload them a few at a time.

Other than that, no major issues so far.

I've been looking for a good solution for my stuff too. I tried "Gallery2" and something called "flash gallery"... but neither one really made me that happy. I simply wanted to allow the user to be able to browse through albums, read my captions and view the photo in a hi-res version.

Any other suggestions?

Well, I've decided to stick with coppermine. It works, it's simple to adminisrer and use and it's free.
