After a year and a half I'm still going through my brothers belongings. Among other things I've come across are his cameras, or at least three of them so far. I'm hoping to figure out which I should consider keeping, if any of them, and what market prices are on them. Maybe a good source of info for camera values too.

Right now I have found two Nikon's and one Canon. The Nikon's are an 'FA' and an 'FM3a'. The 'FM3a' is just the body. The 'FA' has the date-time back installed, an 'MF-16' and a Nikkor 24mm, F1:2.8 lens.  Both look to be in very good condition. I even have the sales receipt for the 'FA' body where he bought it from Adorama.

The Canon is a EOS 3. I found a motor-drive for it, an 'E1', and a battery pack, a 'BP-80'.

Finally, there is an 'MD-15' drive for the Nikon. Looks like it is made for the 'FA'.

So, any info that you guys and gals can give will be appreciated.

Oh, one other question. Will the Canon EOS 3 body accept and make use of the Canon USM lenses? I have an old Elan 2e with a full compliment of lenses so I wonder if there is any commonality.

Thanks.

On the lens commonality - the EOS3 and the Elan2e are both autofocus, so the lenses should be EF lenses and they should work between the two bodies.
B&H and KEH have quote tools on their websites where you can enter the camera and lens info and get a quote from them on how much they would pay you for the gear.  If the tool doesn't have the gear listed, give them a call.  Also, browsing the used sections at B&H and Adorama, as well as KEH's site, will give you an idea of what market value is for the gear (if they have any in stock).  You can also do a price history search on ebay and see what things have been going for recently.
If you enjoy shooting with film, I'd pick what I liked most and use the gear.  Since you already have a group of lenses for Canon, maybe keep the Canon gear.

Ah. Now that I've found out the lenses I have will function with a different body I think I do lean towards keeping the Canon.

The Nikon's may find a new home.

Thanks for the suggestions on price guides; I'll check them out.

If I was going to hang onto one, it'd be the FM-3A.  The FA is probably a better more civilized camera, but the FM series runs without a battery and was favored by many for that reason.  Especially those who stepped off the edge of the map.

You can pick up a great manual nikkor lens for a couple bucks these days.

Of the 3, the Canon is probably worth the least and the Nikons are more or less on par.
