Wow I had no idea there was a photography and photoshop forum! A little while ago I wanted to post a picture of my motorcycle but the only one I had was in my messy garage. I watched a couple youtube videos and cutout the background. I was happy with it and since then have been playing with all sorts of pictures.
I have made a couple ham radio QSL cards (like nerd post cards) for some buddies and some bike pics for other guys. I am a big Linux user so naturally I went with gimp. I am not bashing PS, I am a noob and only used it once so my opinion isn't worth much anyways. 
Now I am thinking about getting a decent DSLR because when I started editing photos the ones from my gopro where much easier then the ones from my phone haha. Any other gimp users? I am sure it is asked all the time but what is the recommended starter rig around here?
