Looking for a point and shoot that will stand up to some snorkeling and swimming.

I see Panasonic, Olympus, and Nikon all have lines of waterproof cameras. Don't really need built in GPS (which seems to be popular), but not opposed to it if the camera is better.

Looking to spend $200 - $300.

Suggestions?

I have both the nikon aw100 and olympus stylus tough tg2...

nikon- the good....takes better pics overall, controls easier to use..more intuitive, audio sound on video is better, auto setting more sensible and usable.

nikon- the bad.... had a leak (probably my fault..dried out and cleaned seal and it didn't leak the next time-also why I ordered the olympus) VERY annoying "zoom" sound apparent on video clips where zoom is used,  not so good in low light setting without flash.

olympus- good...some really neat settings available, burst mode blows away the nikon, much better in low light, better underwater modes

olympus- bad.... weird settings on auto..(flash on auto setting only fires when it's almost too dark, no manual override to correct this on auto),  pics not as crisp as nikon, video autofocus not as responsive.

both have impressive macro settings.  I've owned the nikon longer (it's since been replaced with the aw110?? model, but I've taken thousands of pics with it.  IMO, even though the olympus has some pretty cool features, I keep telling myself I should have bought another nikon.

I have the Pentax Optio W60, and it has gone every where with me.  I've been cage diving with it, snorkeling and has been used as a walk around point and shoot.  I've had no issues with it what so ever and wouldn't trade it for a newer model.  The WG-3 is the latest version of it and it's under $250.

Thanks for the heads up. Ended up getting a WG-3 locally. Paid a bit more than online, but most places are weird about shipping cameras/batteries overseas.

No problem.  Glad I could help out.  Here are a couple underwater pics that I've taken with mine.
