Being the photography section, this might be the best place to bring this up. In Milwaukee, I took part last year in the first Help Portrait. What Help Portrait boils down to is a bunch of photographers and volunteers taking portraits of families and people who would not otherwise be able to get their picture taking, and then giving them their photo either on site, or delivering it afterward. Last year was a pretty good time here in Milwaukee - we had a good number of families turn out, everyone had fun, and folks are willing to do it again this year. The big day is December 4th this year. We're getting started with organizational meetings and figuring how who, how, where, etc around here. Just thought I'd throw this out to you all and see if I'm not the only one on Arfcom. Website: Help-Portrait |

Quoted: That is an awesome idea. I used to work in a photo studio, and know how expensive it can be to do family pictures. I IM'ed my brother about it as well, and we will likely sign up. Thank you. Excellent! Hopefully you find a local group to work with. I'm thankful with the group here in Milwaukee - a bunch of these folks I have known for a long time from Flickr meetups and photowalks. Speaking of that, I have not been on a photowalk in a LONG time... |
