I've never used anything but a disposable, but spring break I'm going to London, and probably studying abroad next year in Italy.

I really want to take a lot of good pictures to cherish the memories and the beauty and share with friends and family.

I'm looking for a beginners camera, nothing fancy and preferably not expensive! Do they exist?

Pentax w90. Water proof, indestructible. Made it through infantry school and many miles of jeeping and hiking

I would prefer to keep it under 300, preferably around 200.

I paid $300 but they have come down. One of the fastest cameras on the market. Push power and it's ready to take pics almost instantly. Screen is ok but pictures are awesome. 12 mp I think which is all you want in a point and shoot
